Our story

We take this way too seriously

Formerly Good Wood. Currently Hatfish. Always rec league, never casual. This page is the manifesto. The rest of the site is the evidence.

The rebrand

Good Wood is dead. Long live the fish in the hat.

For two seasons we played under a name that sounded like a gag gift from a bachelor party. It was funny. It was also the kind of funny that gets you listed in the rec-center program next to "The Benchwarmers" and a team that still uses a Facebook event as a lineup card.

Then Ty Martinez — captain, pitcher, and the only man on the roster who can hit a nuke and invoice a reroof in the same afternoon — put the company on the chest. Hatfish Roofing & Exteriors writes the checks. We wear the script. The joke got a uniform, a flag patch, and a website that looks like we have a front office.

Thank you, Ty. Thank you, Hatfish Roofing. If your shingles are tired, your fence is leaning, or your patio looks like a crime scene, call (469) 708-0012. If you hang a slider to him on a Monday, that is a you problem.

The manifesto

Clubhouse rules, unsanctioned

  1. 01. We play Richardson Men's E Competitive like it is October. It is not October. We do not care.
  2. 02. Four outfielders. Slowpitch. Nukes over the fence are outs. Inside-the-park home runs count. We will argue about this until we die.
  3. 03. Ty bats near the top and throws. Taylor plays short like he is bored. Grant hits everything the other way if he is in the country — the card says Claude, the lineup card says Grant, do not get cute. Brooks will talk to you about your swing path. Ryan's official card is a crayon drawing. These are not jokes. These are operations.
  4. 04. Beer after. Hydration is a philosophy. The group chat is a legal document.
  5. 05. This is rec league. We know. We built a website anyway.
